CFD on HR Rasuna Said Road Remains Suspended as Residents Continue Running and Walking
The car-free day (CFD) on HR Rasuna Said Road in South Jakarta remains suspended this Sunday morning. However, several residents continue to exercise along the road.
Detikcom’s observation at the scene on Sunday, 31 May 2026, at 8:00 AM WIB, showed residents running or walking leisurely from Mampang Prapatan towards Menteng, dressed in sportswear.
Private vehicles and TransJakarta buses were moving normally in the area, with no road closures or traffic diversions in place.
Josh, a resident of Kuningan, South Jakarta, said he was aware the CFD at HR Rasuna Said Road had not yet resumed. He and his friends intentionally exercised as part of their routine.
“Just regular walking exercise,” Josh said when met at the scene.
He expressed delight at the prospect of CFD at HR Rasuna Said Road returning, as it would provide alternative spaces for activities beyond GBK and surrounding parks.
“Having another location would prevent concentration solely at GBK or the parks,” he added.
Josh also noted that CFD at HR Rasuna Said Road is set to resume next week and hoped the ongoing evaluations would address issues.
“Firstly, parking. Secondly, access, as many here are newcomers. For instance, getting out of the area is difficult—Sudirman is closed, and if you want to go elsewhere, this area is also closed,” he explained.
“This limits our mobility. The main issues are access, parking, and cleanliness. After the event, cleanliness must be prioritised. It’s tough on the PPSU and DLH staff who clean up,” he added.
Fahmi, a Mampang Prapatan resident, confirmed he knew CFD at HR Rasuna Said Road was not held today. He regularly runs from Mampang to Bundaran HI each weekend.
“Yes, I know. I check via social media to see if there’s a CFD or other activities,” Fahmi said.
He expressed anticipation for the CFD’s return, considering it a viable option for his area.
“It would be good. When it’s morning, it gets busy. We can run on the road instead of just the footpath,” he said.
The Jakarta Provincial Government confirmed that the CFD on HR Rasuna Said Road will resume regularly from Sunday, 7 June 2026, every Sunday from 5:30 AM to 9:00 AM WIB.
Chico Hakim, Special Staff to the Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta for Public Communication, stated the duration of the CFD at HR Rasuna Said Road is shorter than at Sudirman-Thamrin to accommodate local residents and business activities in the area.
“The Jakarta Provincial Government has decided that the car-free day (HBKB) on HR Rasuna Said Road will resume regularly from Sunday, 7 June 2026, every Sunday from 5:30 AM to 9:00 AM WIB,” Chico said when contacted on Friday, 29 May 2026.
