CFD Cancelled, Residents Disappointed as Exercise Continues at Bundaran HI

Jakarta Provincial Government cancelled the car-free day (CFD) at Bundaran HI this morning. However, many residents continued exercising around Bundaran HI. According to detikcom’s observation at the scene on Sunday (31/5/2026) at 07:50 WIB, residents were exercising on the pavements and roadside, running and walking leisurely. Additionally, many cyclists were exercising in the Bundaran HI area, moving at normal speeds. The exercise activities slowed traffic passing through Bundaran HI, with vehicles moving slowly and leaving the left-hand lane or roadside for residents to exercise. One resident, Izan (20), exercised around Bundaran HI as usual on Sundays. He said he was unaware that CFD had been cancelled. ‘I didn’t know (CFD was cancelled). But I just exercise as usual on Sundays here. Others are also exercising a lot,’ Izan said when approached at Bundaran HI. It is noted that CFD was cancelled on March 31 for Waisak commemoration by the Jakarta Provincial Government. The announcement was made directly via the official Instagram account of DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (@dishubdkijakarta). ‘HBKB Sunday 31 May 2026 cancelled,’ wrote dishubdkijakarta in their post, viewed on Thursday (28/5). The decision to cancel the car-free area refers to Article 5 (1) of Jakarta Provincial Regulation No. 12 of 2016 concerning the Implementation of Car-Free Day (HBKB) in Jakarta.
