Ceuta Tragedy: 90 Migrants Dead While Attempting to Enter Spanish Territory from Morocco

The number of migrants who died while attempting to enter the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, North Africa, from Morocco has reached 90, according to reports from the radio station Cadena Ser on Sunday, citing several sources. Spanish law enforcement officials have discovered 74 bodies, while Moroccan authorities have found an additional 16 bodies, according to the report. At the end of July, Ceuta experienced a large wave of migrants from Morocco. On Friday, the Mayor-President of Ceuta, Juan Jesus Vivas, stated that approximately 60,000 people entered the city from Morocco in a single day. Riots broke out amidst the crisis, leading to the deployment of additional police units, the Civil Guard, and the military. Ceuta is a Spanish enclave on the north coast of Africa, situated on the border with Morocco. Along with Melilla, Ceuta forms the only land border between the European Union and Africa and is considered one of the primary routes for illegal migration into the EU.
