Certified Qurban Slaughter Service Fees in Jakarta: Slaughtering to Meat Cutting

JAKARTA — Karyono (45) has been a sacrificial animal slaughterer for over 20 years during each Idul Adha. He learned the skill since his youth through education at a pesantren and halal slaughterer (juleha) training. “We attended various training sessions at foundations and even recently, there were juleha or halal slaughterer training,” Karyono told Kompas.com in Muara Angke on Wednesday (27 May 2026). But each Idul Adha, he returns to his profession, moving between locations to meet public demand. This year, he is operating at five points in West and North Jakarta, from Pekojan to Muara Angke. “This year, I’m at five locations,” he said. Some committees only require the slaughtering service, while others request the entire process up to meat cutting. “When the committee only needs slaughtering, it’s just slaughtering. Sometimes committees require the full process up to meat cutting, which takes longer,” he explained. “For individuals, it’s more convenient to have one location, but community needs vary,” Karyono added. Besides moving between locations, Karyono must work quickly as slaughtering and meat cutting require significant physical effort and time. He said that for cattle slaughtering services, Jakarta-based qurban committees typically pay around Rp 500,000 per animal.
