Changchun (ANTARA) - Recently, the customs authorities in Yanji City, Jilin Province, northeast China, issued a Certificate of Origin under the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement for a batch of engineered wood production line equipment manufactured by a local factory, which significantly reduces the company’s costs for exporting the product to Indonesia.

The equipment, valued at over 400,000 yuan (1 yuan = Rp2,552), was produced by Yalian Machinery Co., Ltd., located in Jilin Province, and has received widespread recognition from customers in the Southeast Asian market, Russia, and South Korea.

“The tariff reduction thanks to this Certificate of Origin helps us save around 22,000 yuan, thereby significantly lowering our overseas customers’ procurement costs and helping to enhance the competitiveness of our products,” said Yao Gang, head of the international business division at Yalian.

This is the latest example of Certificates of Origin from Chinese customs alleviating the burden on Chinese producers and overseas customers.

This is not the first time Yalian has benefited from the Certificate of Origin policy under the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement. Data from the Yanji customs authorities show that they have issued 37 similar certificates to Yalian in 2025, involving cargo worth 47 million yuan. Calculated at an average of 5 percent in preferential tariff rates, the policy has helped the company save a total of more than 2.3 million yuan.

In the first quarter of this year, the customs authorities continued to issue such certificates to eligible cargo.

“As the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement develops further, the package of customs licensing process policies and tariff reductions has yielded tangible and increasingly significant results. Jilin has become known as a reliable exporter of engineered wood production line equipment, machinery, and specialty agricultural products. We are prepared to promote more superior products to enter the ASEAN market and other regions,” said Wang Lixun, deputy head of the Yanji customs office.
