Certificate of Mbah Tupon in the Name of Convicted Land Mafia Being Processed with BPN
The family of the land mafia victim in Bantul, Tupon Hadi Suwarno or known as Mbah Tupon, stated that they have initiated the process to transfer the name on the certificate that is still in the name of the convicted Indah Fatmawati.
Mbah Tupon’s eldest son, Heri Setiawan, handed over the name transfer process for the certificate to the legal team. Heri did this immediately after receiving the land certificate handover from the Bantul District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari).
“After the handover, the name transfer process was immediately carried out,” he said to detikJogja in Ngentak, Bangunjiwo, Kasihan, Bantul, on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
Heri also revealed that one land certificate in Mbah Tupon’s name will undergo a deed of sale (AJB). This is because the land has already been sold to several people, some of whom have made payments.
“Then, the one certificate in Mbah Tupon’s name is to be sold because there are five buyers and some have already paid. But those five people are victims, not the seven perpetrators, and father has also agreed,” he said.
According to Heri, the AJB will only take place if the name transfer process for the land certificate in Indah Fatmawati’s name is completed.
“Possibly after (the certificate in) Indah Fatmawati’s name is transferred (back), then the AJB,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the legal representative and member of the Mbah Tupon Defence Team, Suki Ratnasari, stated that they are currently processing the name transfer of Mbah Tupon’s land certificate to the National Land Agency (BPN).
“At the moment, we are just about to submit the application to the BPN,” she said.
Suki admitted that she could not yet confirm when the name transfer process for the certificate would be completed. Considering that the name transfer process is quite lengthy.
“But hopefully it can be completed this year,” she said.
Two Certificates Returned
It was previously reported that two certificates in the names of Mbah Tupon and Indah Fatmawati were returned after being used as court evidence. The two certificates belonging to Mbah Tupon were handed over by the Head of the Bantul District Prosecutor’s Office, Kristanti Yuni Purnawanti, on Thursday (9/4/2026).
Kristanti said that each land certificate is numbered 24452 in the name of Tupon Hadi Suwarno and certificate numbered 24451 in the name of Indah Fatmawati.
“Both were declared by the court judge to be returned to the rightful owner, namely Tupon Hadi Suwarno,” she said after handing over the two certificates in Ngentak, Bangunjiwo, Bantul, on Thursday (9/4/2026).
After regaining the two land certificates belonging to him, Mbah Tupon along with his wife immediately prostrated in gratitude and cried.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Bantul, Abdul Halim Muslih, assured that the Regency Government will oversee the name transfer process for one of Mbah Tupon’s land certificates that is still in the name of one of the convicts, namely Indah Fatmawati.
“Yes, definitely (the Regency Government will assist with the name transfer process for the certificate not yet in Mbah Tupon’s name), in line with our shared intention that this case must be resolved and Mbah Tupon regains his rights,” Halim said to reporters in Ngentak, Bangunjiwo, Kasihan, Bantul, on Thursday (9/4).
