Ceramic Format Technology Makes Mosaic Motif Application More Practical

The development of ceramic design is not only targeting motifs and colours but also the material format to facilitate the installation process. One such advancement is seen in mosaic-patterned ceramics, which can now be produced in larger single pieces.

This format innovation allows the mosaic look to be applied without the need to arrange small individual pieces one by one. This approach also helps maintain pattern consistency during installation.

Mosaic motifs have long been used as decorative elements to provide character to specific areas within a home. However, conventional mosaic application requires a meticulous process of arranging small pieces to ensure the pattern remains neat.

Developments in ceramic formats now allow similar aesthetics to be presented in more practical materials. Asia Tile, under the auspices of PT Platinum Ceramics Industry, for example, offers mosaic-patterned ceramics in a 25x40 centimetre size.

This motif is available in a single ceramic piece, meaning installation does not require the manual arrangement of small fragments.

Jali Wijaya, Marketing Director of PT Platinum Ceramics Industry, stated that mosaic motifs do not need to cover an entire surface to provide character to a room.

“Mosaics do not have to fill an entire area to provide character to a space. By placing them in specific areas, such as a kitchen backsplash or a bathroom wall accent, mosaic motifs can serve as a focal point,” said Jali.

In addition to the material format, product development also includes surface characteristics. These mosaic-patterned ceramics feature a glossy surface, which is considered easier to clean and maintain.

Colour options are also part of the motif development. The Elise series mosaic collection is available in several options, including pink, harmony, blue, green, and grey.

These variations allow mosaic motifs to be applied to specific areas according to interior design concepts. Using them on kitchen backsplashes, bathroom walls, or specific parts of a home serves as an alternative way to add accents without covering the entire surface.

With the 25x40 centimetre single-piece format, the innovation in mosaic-patterned ceramics shifts the installation approach from arranging many small pieces to using more ready-to-apply materials.

This development demonstrates that innovation in decorative materials relates not only to the final appearance but also to how designs can be applied more practically during the spatial construction process.
