CEOs upbeat on RI economy

JAKARTA: The Business sentiment index (BSI), which represents sentiment of top decision-makers in the business community, climbed by 1.8 percent in the October-November period to a 50- month high of 115.9 points, a survey showed on Monday.

Among the reasons behind the surge in confidence was the change in the nation's leadership, said the survey, which was conducted by Danareksa Research Institute and covered more than 700 chief executives or directors in various leading firms.

"The confidence of businesspeople has not been this high for more than 5 years," it said in a statement.

The CEOs were upbeat that the new government would employ pro- growth policies with a new pro-business paradigm to sustain the current upswing in business momentum, it added. -- JP
