Central Sulawesi Police Mobile Brigade Assists Earthquake Victims in Sigi

The Central Sulawesi Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) unit is assisting in clearing debris from homes damaged by the magnitude 6.7 earthquake that struck Kamarora Village, Nokilalaki District, Sigi Regency, on Tuesday (16/6). “In every disaster response, Brimob not only deploys personnel but also the capabilities and equipment we possess to help the community,” said Central Sulawesi Police Mobile Brigade Commander, Senior Commissioner Kurniawan Tri Tandi Rongre, in Palu on Thursday. Personnel from the Pioneer Battalion A of the Central Sulawesi Police Mobile Brigade went directly to the field to help residents clear debris from houses damaged by the quake. Bringing available work equipment, Brimob personnel and residents worked together to remove collapsed building materials such as wood, corrugated iron, bricks, and other rubble to accelerate the environmental clean-up process. He stated that in addition to deploying personnel, the Central Sulawesi Police Mobile Brigade also deployed a special water treatment vehicle to help provide clean water for the affected community. According to him, the provision of clean water and ready-to-eat meals is part of an integrated post-disaster recovery effort to meet the basic needs of the affected population. “The presence of the special water treatment vehicle and field kitchen is a tangible form of our commitment to supporting the basic needs of residents during the post-earthquake recovery process,” he said. Senior Commissioner Kurniawan emphasised that humanitarian tasks are an inseparable part of Brimob’s service to the community. He added that all resources owned by Brimob will be utilised to assist communities facing disasters.
