Central Sulawesi Governor Urges Central Government to Prioritise Investment in Western Region
PALU, Central Sulawesi — Central Sulawesi Governor Dr H. Anwar Hafid has called on the central government to prioritise investment in the western part of Central Sulawesi.
The governor conveyed this aspiration at his office while receiving a working visit from Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Deputy Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Todotua Pasaribu and his entourage on Thursday (17/4/2025).
Accompanying the governor were Central Sulawesi Provincial Secretary Dra Novalina, MM, Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development Dr H. Rudi Dewanto, SE, MM, and Head of the One-Stop Investment and Integrated Services Agency Moh. Rifani Pakamundi, S.Sos, M.Si.
To support community activities in western Central Sulawesi, Governor Anwar Hafid said he had programmed the Tambu-Kasimbar bypass road to enhance connectivity between cluster areas in the province.
Additionally, western Central Sulawesi is home to the Palu Special Economic Zone (SEZ), which requires further development to boost investment, economic growth, and local welfare.
The development strategy for the Palu SEZ has been discussed with the Mayor of Palu, with acceleration measures drawn up covering land, licensing, infrastructure, and mature business cooperation plans to be entrusted to professional hands.
"In Palu, in western Central Sulawesi, we hope for environmentally friendly industries," the governor said.
Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Deputy Head of BKPM Todotua Pasaribu responded positively to the governor's aspirations, stating that BKPM would support and encourage development efforts in western Central Sulawesi, particularly in developing the Special Economic Zone and overseeing the process directly up to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs.
"Submit a formal request letter, Governor. I will assign a Deputy to follow up, and I will personally handle matters at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs," Pasaribu said.
