Central Sulawesi Government Ends Sigi Earthquake Emergency Transition, Shifts Focus to Recovery

The Central Sulawesi Provincial Government has officially ended the post-earthquake emergency transition period in Sigi Regency as of 31 July 2026. Disaster management will now focus on the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase.

Vice Governor of Central Sulawesi, Reny A. Lamadjido, stressed that the end of the emergency transition period does not mean disaster management is complete. She said the government will continue to oversee the recovery process until it is fully resolved.

"We continue to monitor and evaluate the handling, particularly in Sigi Regency. The Central Sulawesi Provincial Government is ready to coordinate closely with the Sigi Regency Government," Reny stated at the Central Sulawesi Governor’s Office on Monday (3/8).

Reny confirmed that the government remains committed to assisting the affected communities. One of the current priorities is accelerating the construction of temporary housing for residents who still need shelter.

"The government continues to monitor the construction of temporary housing. We are overseeing the unfinished work to ensure the community receives proper treatment," she asserted.

Sigi Regency was the area most severely affected by the earthquake that struck on 16 June 2026. Consequently, the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government is prioritising the provision of housing, infrastructure repairs, and the economic recovery of the community.

"We must ensure that the affected communities can resume their lives safely and in better conditions," Reny concluded.
