Central Papua Prepares 843 New Civil Servants to Accelerate Public Services
The Central Papua Provincial Government has appointed 843 new civil servants (PNS) to strengthen public service quality and accelerate regional development. The new officials are expected to foster a work culture that is innovative, professional, with integrity, and oriented towards community service.
Acting Regional Secretary of Central Papua Silwanus Sumule stated in Nabire on Wednesday that the appointments were not merely an administrative fulfilment but the start of service as state officials responsible for serving the public. “This momentum is not just the handover of employment administration documents or a ceremonial swearing-in. Today marks the true starting point of service as a state apparatus, a servant of the community, and a public servant,” Sumule said during the handover of the 2024 PNS Formation decrees and the oath-taking ceremony.
He explained that all new civil servants had undergone a competitive selection process, a probationary period as candidate civil servants (CPNS), and character building to prepare them for their duties as state civil apparatus. According to him, the trust given by the state must be answered with dedication, integrity, discipline, and the best performance in providing services to the community.
Sumule noted that the Central Papua Provincial Government is currently accelerating development across various sectors, including education, health, infrastructure, community economic empowerment, and strengthening clean and professional governance. Therefore, the government requires officials who possess a spirit of service, are capable of innovation, have integrity, and can collaborate to support regional development.
He also reminded all new civil servants to implement the mandate of Law Number 20 of 2023 concerning State Civil Apparatus, which directs bureaucratic reform towards a professional, neutral, and accountable apparatus, free from political intervention and oriented towards the state’s interests. Additionally, the officials were urged to uphold work discipline in accordance with Government Regulation Number 94 of 2021 on Civil Servant Discipline as part of their responsibility in carrying out governmental duties.
As a step to strengthen the quality of human resources, Sumule expressed hope that all regional apparatus leaders would continue to provide guidance and mentoring to the new civil servants so they can develop their competencies and make a real contribution to improving public service quality. “We hope all new civil servants will continue to improve performance, maintain togetherness, strengthen synergy, and bring innovation to their duties to support the progress of Central Papua Province,” he said.
In addition to appointing 843 CPNS to PNS, the Central Papua Provincial Government also appointed six former category II (K2) honorary workers in the first phase and 70 former K2 workers in the second phase, in accordance with state civil apparatus management regulations.
