The Central Lombok Regency Government in West Nusa Tenggara supports the temporary closure of free nutritious meal (MBG) kitchens during the 2026 school year holidays. Assistant II of the Central Lombok Regional Secretariat Lalu Rinjani stated on Tuesday that the policy from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to temporarily halt MBG distribution during school holidays is excellent for efficiency and evaluating quality improvement programmes. He said that during the current school holidays, the public does not need to come to schools just to collect the MBG menu. “MBG distribution in Central Lombok remains in accordance with BGN policy,” he said. He added that his team, as the MBG task force, continues to monitor and evaluate any reports from the community regarding the programme. He also stressed to the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) to continue empowering local communities and leveraging the potential within villages, so that the MBG programme has an impact on local economic growth. “Empowerment of local communities must remain a priority,” he said. He noted that out of 192 SPPG units across 12 sub-districts in Central Lombok, 175 are currently operational, leaving 17 yet to operate. “The number of beneficiaries reaches 444,000, including students as well as pregnant and breastfeeding mothers,” he said.
