Central Lombok Street Lighting Budget of Rp 11 Billion Used to Pay Electricity Bills to PLN

The Central Lombok Regency Government (Pemkab) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has budgeted Rp 11 billion for street lighting electricity expenditure in 2026. This budget will be used to pay for street lighting electricity to the State Electricity Company (PLN) on a monthly basis.

According to the General Procurement Plan (RUP), the street lighting electricity expenditure package is valued at Rp 11,000,114,336.

The Head of the Transportation Department (Dishub) of Central Lombok, Baiq Sri Damayanti Wiradharma, stated that the budget covers electricity costs for street lighting across all roads in Central Lombok throughout 2026. She noted that the funds are sourced from this year’s Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).

“That is the budget for paying street lighting electricity in Central Lombok, which the regional government pays to PLN every month,” said Sri to detikBali on Tuesday (5/5/2026) in Praya.

Sri mentioned that the budget amount this year has decreased compared to the previous year. However, she could not provide detailed figures.

“It has even decreased from the years before that. I don’t remember. Anyway, it was larger last year,” she added.

In addition, the Central Lombok Transportation Department routinely conducts field inspections to ensure the condition of active street lighting. This is to avoid potential overpayments.

“The bills are sent by PLN to us. Then every month we pay PLN according to the consumption,” she said.

On the other hand, they are pushing for a change in the street lighting payment system from the previous non-meter system to a meter-based (kilowatt-hour) system. According to her, this system will facilitate control over electricity usage and the payment process.

“We are pushing for that currently. So that we don’t have to wait for PLN to bill us first before paying. If so, we can pay ourselves once the pulse is used up,” she explained.
