Central Lombok Satpol PP Evicts Street Vendors from Pavements and Road Shoulders

The Central Lombok Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) has evicted dozens of vendor stalls operating on road shoulders and pavements in front of Renteng Market, Leneng Urban Village, Praya District, on Wednesday (19/8/2026). The eviction was carried out due to violations of Central Lombok Regional Regulation No. 6 of 2012 on the Implementation of Public Order and Tranquillity.

The operation involved dozens of Central Lombok Satpol PP personnel, community police officers (bhabinkamtibmas), village non-commissioned officers (babinsa), and local neighbourhood heads, beginning at 10.00 WITA. The eviction initially met with resistance from vendors, but they were unable to refuse as the action had been socialised well in advance.

“Alhamdulillah, today is our first day of enforcement and it has proceeded smoothly,” said Central Lombok Satpol PP Head Zaenal Mustakim to journalists.

Zaenal stressed that the eviction does not only apply to vendors on pavements. Central Lombok Satpol PP also plans to take action against vehicles parked illegally in front of Cahaya Medika Hospital (RSCM) in Leneng Urban Village.

“Our target is focused on Leneng Urban Village. We will enforce all types of regional regulation violations, such as misuse of road shoulders, and later this afternoon we will also carry out enforcement at RSCM,” said Zaenal.

The eviction will continue over the coming days. The effort aims to provide comfort to road users and the surrounding community.

“This eviction is not about stopping them, but about organising them. We ask them not to sell on road shoulders and pavements, so we are dismantling these stalls that are on the pavements,” Zaenal emphasised.

Prior to the eviction, Central Lombok Satpol PP had conducted socialisation from the outset, urging vendors to remove their merchandise. This was done to prevent unrest or resistance during the operation.

“So we began this enforcement activity with socialisation to the public. We have also communicated with the vendors, reminding them that their actions were wrong. We have also put up banners and other materials to remind them,” Zaenal stressed.

Zaenal reiterated that the eviction is not intended to stop the vendors’ trading activities. Rather, Central Lombok Satpol PP wants vendors to trade in designated locations and not violate regulations.

“This eviction is not about stopping them, but about organising them. We ask them not to sell on road shoulders and pavements, so we are dismantling these stalls that are on the pavements,” Zaenal explained.
