Central Lombok Residents Warned of Fake WhatsApp Accounts Impersonating Officials
The Central Lombok District Attorney’s Office has warned the public to be vigilant against fake WhatsApp accounts that use photos of its officials to request personal data, information, or other demands as a mode of fraud.
Head of the Central Lombok District Attorney’s Office, Putri Ayu Wulandari, stated that her office had discovered WhatsApp accounts using the profile photos of prosecution officials to contact potential victims. “Accounts have been found using the profile photos of prosecution officials to contact potential victims with the intention of requesting data, information, or other demands,” she said in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday.
Putri Ayu urged all stakeholders, government agencies, and the public not to provide personal data or confidential information to suspicious numbers. She also asked the public not to comply with requests to send data or any other demands made in the name of Central Lombok District Attorney’s Office officials.
According to her, all official communications from the Central Lombok District Attorney’s Office are conducted through official channels and never use personal numbers to request rewards or sensitive data. Members of the public who receive suspicious messages are asked to immediately verify them through the Central Lombok District Attorney’s Office service at 087842924423.
“For those who have become victims of this fraud, we urge you to immediately report the incident to law enforcement for follow-up,” she said. She hopes this appeal will increase public awareness so that no one falls victim to the actions of individuals falsely claiming to be officials from the Central Lombok District Attorney’s Office.
