Central Lombok Regent Says Energy Efficiency Not Urgent
Central Lombok Regent, Lalu Pathul Bahri, has no plans to implement Work From Home (WFH) for civil servants (ASN) or Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) amid the threat of an energy crisis stemming from the Iran-Israel-United States conflict. He assesses that energy efficiency measures are not yet urgent. “We haven’t discussed it, and there are no directives (from the central government),” Pathul told reporters on Sunday (3/9/2026) in Praya. Although not a priority, Pathul mentioned that efficiency could be implemented if conditions require it. According to him, energy efficiency is not limited to WFH alone, but there are many other options, such as halting the use of official or private vehicles and replacing them with bicycles or walking, as implemented by the Mataram City Government. “We’re not doing it today (cycling to the office), but we did it in the past. However, now some districts are implementing it like that,” added the Chairman of the NTB Gerindra DPD. Pathul views energy efficiency policies using bicycles or WFH as not urgent at this time. Pathul also stated that his side still assesses the current condition as safe and under control. “We haven’t thought about that (WFH),” he explained. It is known that the WFH policy for energy saving has indeed been set in several regions in Indonesia, including East Lombok and Mataram City.
