Central Lombok Police have named a man with the initials SR as a suspect in an alleged counterfeit banknote circulation case in Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. The Head of Public Relations for Central Lombok Police, First Inspector Brata Kusnadi, stated on Sunday that the suspect was named after investigators from the General Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division conducted a case review. According to him, investigators have examined several witnesses, including an expert from Bank Indonesia. Police seized evidence from the suspect including 40 bands of counterfeit money, 44 sheets of counterfeit Rp100,000 notes, and transfer receipts believed to be related to the case. Brata said the suspect is charged under Article 375, paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code regarding the circulation of counterfeit banknotes. After being named a suspect, SR was detained at the Central Lombok Police Detention Centre to undergo further legal proceedings. Police have urged the public to increase their vigilance when conducting transactions and to immediately report to the authorities if they find suspected counterfeit money.
