Central Lombok (ANTARA) — Central Lombok Police in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province are continuing their investigation into a snatch theft case involving a Chinese national in Kuta Village, Pujut District.

“We remain committed to identifying the perpetrator in this case,” said Central Lombok Police Public Relations Section Head First Inspector Lalu Brata Kusnadi in Central Lombok on Sunday.

He said personnel from the Mandalika Area Police Sector under Central Lombok Police had moved swiftly to the crime scene following a suspected violent robbery (snatch theft) targeting a Chinese national on Saturday evening.

The police received the incident report on Saturday, 21 February 2026, at approximately 20:30 local time (WITA).

“After receiving the report, our officers immediately proceeded to the crime scene to conduct a scene examination and gather witness statements,” he said.

The victim was identified as Rui Bao, and the incident occurred in an alleyway on Dusun Kuta I Road, Kuta Village, Pujut District.

According to the victim’s account, on Saturday evening at around 20:30 WITA, the victim was walking alone at the location.

“Suddenly, an unidentified perpetrator on a red motorcycle snatched the victim’s bag and immediately fled the scene,” he said.

The items inside the victim’s bag included a passport, cash, a Chinese residence identity card, and a Chinese SIM card.

Following the incident, the victim promptly filed a report at the Mandalika Area Police Sector for further action.

“The perpetrator is currently still under investigation,” he said.

He added that the police are continuing to increase patrols in the Mandalika tourism area to maintain a safe and conducive security environment.

He also urged the public and tourists, both domestic and international, to remain vigilant during their activities, particularly at night.

“We urge people not to walk alone in secluded areas and not to carry or display valuables conspicuously in order to prevent criminal acts,” he said.
