Central Lombok forms accommodation monitoring task force ahead of 2026 MotoGP

The Central Lombok Regency Government in West Nusa Tenggara has formed an accommodation monitoring task force ahead of the Indonesian MotoGP event to be held at Mandalika Circuit on 9–11 October 2026.

“We have prepared a task force to anticipate surges in accommodation rental prices ahead of the Indonesian MotoGP,” said Head of the Central Lombok Tourism Office Lalu Muhammad Hatta in Central Lombok on Wednesday.

He said the task force was established to monitor and oversee rising rental prices for hotel accommodation and transport during the 2026 Indonesian MotoGP event.

“This is one of our efforts to improve services for tourists,” he said.

He said the task force involves tourism industry players, law enforcement officials and the regional government.

“This task force involves all parties, including tourism operators,” he said.

He said that based on available information, accommodation booking occupancy levels for the Indonesian MotoGP event are quite good, though detailed data cannot yet be concluded.

“This means hotel and homestay occupancy in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone in particular is usually full,” he said.

“The total number of accommodation rooms in Central Lombok is around 5,000 rooms, including both hotels and homestays,” he said.

Meanwhile, ITDC President Director Ahmad Fajar is targeting a projected attendance of 145,000 spectators for MotoGP 2026. This spectator target is expected to be reached. To achieve this, the government is promoting ticket sales in several regions.

“We are trying to promote in Banjarmasin, Makassar, Surabaya, Jakarta and even Waingapu in East Nusa Tenggara,” he said.

“Moreover, we have two young Indonesian riders as local heroes, Veda Ega Pratama and Mario Suryo Aji. This will certainly increase spectator enthusiasm to come to Mandalika,” he said.

According to him, this year’s MotoGP will not only present a racing event but also an integrated holiday experience exploring the beauty of West Nusa Tenggara, including the addition of glamping and camping facilities as well as side events.

“Regarding transport, we will cooperate with shipping companies from Surabaya. We will also prepare floating hotels,” he said.
