Central Kalimantan's KHBS Programme Reaches 7,864 Beneficiaries in Pulang Pisau

The Central Kalimantan provincial government’s Huma Betang Sejahtera Card (KHBS) programme has reached 7,864 beneficiary families in Pulang Pisau Regency, according to Deputy Governor Edy Pratowo. However, around 2,840 residents have filed complaints as they have not yet been registered as beneficiaries. Edy requested that these individuals be immediately proposed for inclusion, estimating the total number of recipients in the regency could exceed 10,000 families. The KHBS programme provides various benefits, including food aid in the form of basic necessities and cash assistance to help meet community needs. In the education sector, the programme offers free education and scholarships for high-achieving students. This year, the government is also launching a free vocational Diploma 1 (D1) programme for 1,000 students wishing to study at Muhammadiyah University of Palangka Raya, with a specific focus on agriculture. Edy stated the programme is part of efforts to support food security in Central Kalimantan, noting that graduates will be able to assist farmers with technology application, production processes, and the processing of agricultural products, particularly as Pulang Pisau is a food production hub. He encouraged the younger generation to seize the opportunity, emphasising that further education provides skills beneficial for regional development. In the health sector, the public can access medical services through the KHBS programme by presenting their identity cards in accordance with applicable regulations. The government is also providing support to micro, small, and medium enterprises to boost community economic growth.
