Palangkaraya (ANTARA) - The Central Kalimantan provincial government has received a national award in the field of education for its success in promoting the development of digitalisation and inclusive access to education.

“We want to ensure that all students, whether in urban areas or remote regions, receive quality education through the utilisation of technology,” said Acting Head of the Central Kalimantan Education Office, Reza Prabowo, when contacted from Palangkaraya on Saturday.

The education category award was received at the National Governance Awards 2026 Sinergi Nusantara for Golden Indonesia, organised by one of the national television stations.

The Central Kalimantan provincial government’s innovations in improving technology-based education quality, while expanding equitable access to education for the community, were deemed successful.

The assessment not only focused on policies but also on the implementation of programmes that directly impact the community, particularly in the education sector.

Central Kalimantan’s success in receiving this award is inseparable from the strengthening of the digital learning ecosystem that continues to be developed sustainably.

Under the leadership of Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran, the provincial government encourages the use of technology in the teaching and learning process through various innovative programmes.

Some of the programmes developed include Digital Huma Betang Classes, hybrid learning, and strengthening foreign language learning designed to be adaptive and inclusive for students in various regions, including remote areas.

In addition, education digitalisation is supported by the provision of modern facilities and infrastructure, such as the use of interactive televisions or interactive whiteboards that are starting to be implemented in all high schools, vocational schools, and special schools in Central Kalimantan.

These efforts are considered capable of improving learning quality while addressing education challenges in the era of digital transformation.

Flagship programmes for free schooling and free higher education also play an important role in expanding education access for the community.

These policies provide broader opportunities for students from low-income families or those living in inland areas to continue their education without being burdened by costs.

“We do not want any more children in Central Kalimantan to drop out of school due to financial limitations. Through the free schooling and free higher education programmes, we are opening access as widely as possible so that the younger generation can achieve a better future,” he said.
