Central Kalimantan Provincial Government Boosts Economic Circulation through KHBS Programme
Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Central Kalimantan Provincial Government is accelerating local economic circulation through the Kartu Huma Betang Sejahtera (KHBS) programme. “Through this KHBS programme, including the distribution of direct cash assistance to beneficiaries, we hope it can be utilised as effectively as possible to help meet their needs,” said Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, on Thursday. The assistance is expected to help maintain purchasing power among the community, thereby facilitating transactions that support local economic circulation. Therefore, the output of KHBS not only enhances community welfare but also bolsters the regional economy. The direct cash assistance through KHBS amounts to Rp250,000 for each recipient. It is recorded that around 300,000 beneficiary families are spread across 13 regencies and one city in Central Kalimantan. The implementation of KHBS applies a digitalisation system, ensuring that social assistance is delivered accurately and in accordance with regulations. Distribution is carried out through Bank Kalteng. The social assistance through the Kartu Huma Betang covers various sectors, from food, education, health, economic empowerment, and others, all integrated into one. In addition to direct cash assistance, other aid being distributed includes food assistance worth Rp150,000, comprising 5 kg of premium rice, 1 litre of cooking oil, and 1 kg of white sugar. “This is a concrete effort by the government to be present among the people. Even though we are currently in a period of regional efficiency policies, matters related to community welfare remain the top priority,” he explained. Furthermore, the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government, through various efforts, has been and continues to implement ongoing activities and programmes to maintain the regional economy, such as organising affordable markets, cheap food movements, and others. Previously, Acting Secretary of the Regional Secretariat of Central Kalimantan, Leonard S Ampung, added that affordable markets, cheap food movements, and others are government interventions in the market. “To ensure that community purchasing power remains maintained and to stabilise food prices in the market,” he explained.
