Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan (ANTARA) — The Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) of Central Kalimantan is making use of the nationwide Dekranasda Craft and Textile Exhibition to optimise the promotion of the province’s flagship products.

“Central Kalimantan’s participation in this national event is a strategic moment to introduce the region’s flagship products,” said Aisyah Thisia Agustiar Sabran, Chair of Central Kalimantan’s Dekranasda, when contacted in Palangka Raya on Friday.

The national agenda is also being used to help small and medium-sized industries (IKM) from Central Kalimantan expand their marketing networks further and open up new opportunities for cooperation.

The Dekranasda Nationwide Craft Exhibition is being held in Makassar, South Sulawesi, from 9 to 12 July 2026. The event forms part of the commemoration of the 54th PKK Family Welfare Movement Unity Day and the 46th anniversary of Dekranas.

The Central Kalimantan pavilion displays crafts in the form of various accessories and innovations in woven rattan handicrafts, as well as textiles including various types of benang bintik, or batik distinctive to the Dayak people of Central Kalimantan.

Aisyah expressed appreciation for the spirit of the artisans and IKM players from Central Kalimantan who continue to innovate in developing regional products so that they can remain competitive.

The variety of crafts and textiles on display at the event also reflects the cultural wealth and local wisdom of Bumi Tambun Bungai, as the province is known.

“We hope the momentum of Dekranas’s 46th anniversary will further strengthen synergy between the government, Dekranasda and artisans in preserving cultural heritage whilst driving sustainable creative economic growth,” she explained.

Previously, Sukarniaty Kondolele, Chair of the Daily Committee for Dekranas’s 46th Anniversary, said that South Sulawesi as host had prepared around 200 stands for participants taking part in the craft and textile exhibition.

“The hundreds of stands provided include 158 stands occupied by Dekranasda bodies from provinces, regencies and cities across Indonesia, ministries, agencies and strategic partners,” she explained.

Meanwhile, the staging of the exhibition at a shopping centre aims to broaden the promotion of the archipelago’s craft and textile products.
