Central Kalimantan police name 23 suspects in 19 wildfire cases

“Law enforcement efforts continue as part of measures to curb forest and land fires in Central Kalimantan,” police spokesman Budi Rachmat said here Tuesday.

Pulang Pisau police recorded the most suspects, with 10 people from four police reports. Palangka Raya police handled two reports involving three suspects, while North Barito police handled three reports involving two suspects.

“Every report received will be followed up in accordance with applicable legal procedures and provisions,” he said.

East Kotawaringin police handled two reports involving one suspect. Kapuas police handled one report, while Sukamara police handled one report involving one suspect.

Gunung Mas police handled one report involving one suspect. Katingan police also handled one report involving one suspect.

“Each case is handled professionally and in accordance with applicable legal procedures,” he said.

Elsewhere, Lamandau police handled two reports involving two suspects. South Barito and West Kotawaringin police each handled one report involving one suspect.

Budi said police were investigating and compiling case files for several cases, with some still at the investigation stage.

“Central Kalimantan police are committed to enforcing the law against anyone proven to have violated regulations related to forest and land fires,” Budi said.
