Central Kalimantan Police Extend Security Posts in High-Risk Areas

Kapolda Kalteng Irjen Pol Iwan Kurniawan has stated that, although Operation Ketupat officially concludes on 25 March 2026 at 00.00 WIB, the force will extend several security posts in areas assessed to have high vulnerability levels. “Specifically in Central Kalimantan, I have instructed all Kapolres that several locations with high risk levels, both related to return traffic and tourist sites, will see extensions of security posts, service posts, and integrated posts to anticipate security disturbances,” explained Kapolda Kalteng Irjen Pol Iwan Kurniawan after attending a video conference led by General Police Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo on Tuesday (24/03). The Kapolda noted that the priority areas for these post extensions include Kapuas Regency as the main transit route for holidaymakers from Banjarmasin to Central Kalimantan. Additionally, Kotawaringin Barat Regency, Sampit, and Palangkaraya City are also receiving special attention. “Kapuas Regency is the primary transit route for holidaymakers. Then Kotawaringin Barat with increased sea and air transport flows, as well as Sampit and Palangkaraya, are also our focus for extending security posts,” he added. Furthermore, the Kapolda emphasised anticipatory steps to prevent congestion and maintain security in crowded centres. He instructed all ranks to intensify enhanced routine activities (KRYD). “I request all ranks to increase patrols, traffic management, and security in crowded centres so that the situation remains safe and conducive,” he concluded.
