Central Kalimantan Governor Sends Off 1,400 Homebound Travellers from Sampit Port
Sampit — Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran has officially dispatched the departure of 1,400 homebound travellers from Sampit Port, East Kotawaringin District.
“I hope you arrive safely and happily reunite with your loved ones at home. We pray your journey is smooth and secure,” said Agustiar at Sampit on Monday.
Agustiar symbolically sent off the 1,400 travellers who boarded the KM Lawit vessel from Sampit Port bound for Tanjung Mas Port in Semarang. His presence aimed to ensure all facilities and services for the holiday mass migration operated at maximum capacity.
“Today’s working visit ensures passenger activities at Sampit Port run smoothly and safely, especially for homebound travellers. We have inspected the facilities and ensured maximum preparations so our citizens’ journeys proceed as expected,” said Agustiar.
During the event, Agustiar and the Forum of Regional Leadership Communications (Forkopimda) delivered a safety message to the ship’s captain and prayed for passengers who would cross the Java Sea, using speakers connected throughout the passenger areas.
“We entrust East Kotawaringin residents to reach Semarang safely. Please exercise caution, as during major holidays like this, crime rates can increase. Many irresponsible individuals may be about, so remain vigilant throughout your journey,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Gusti Muchlis, chief of the 2026 Eid Sea Transport Command Post at Sampit Port, reported that today’s KM Lawit departure carried 1,400 passengers bound for Semarang.
“The homebound travel flow monitoring has alhamdulillah progressed smoothly, although we were initially concerned due to three ships arriving last Sunday. We devised a strategy to distribute passengers through early boarding, effectively spreading out the congestion from those three vessels,” said Gusti Muchlis.
