Central Kalimantan Governor Provides Opportunities for Students to Serve as Special Staff to Oversee Development
Palangkaraya (ANTARA) - Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran is providing opportunities for students to get involved in overseeing and supporting development by becoming special staff (stafsus). “We will involve them in research and development (litbang) under Bapperida, both in supervision, the Kartu Huma Betang Sejahtera Programme, and others,” the governor said in Palangkaraya on Sunday. He made this statement after holding a silaturahmi and halal bihalal gathering with students, including student press, BEM, and student organisations from various universities. He explained that the quota provided is planned to range between 17 and 25 people. His side wants students to be involved in the development stages, not just identifying problems, but jointly finding solutions. “By getting directly involved, they will understand what the government is like, there are regulations, authorities, and others,” he clarified. Meanwhile, regarding this meeting, his side wants to strengthen communication and build common perceptions with all youth and student elements. “I view youth or students as an intellectual force that has a strategic role in maintaining social stability, strengthening unity, and encouraging regional development progress,” Agustiar Sabran stressed. Therefore, the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government always opens wide spaces for dialogue, collaboration, and participation to the younger generation. On the other hand, he conveyed that a shared understanding is needed about the provincial government’s conditions facing quite heavy fiscal challenges. “The 2026 Regional Budget experiences a significant reduction, almost reaching 50 percent compared to 2025, from around Rp10.3 trillion to Rp5.4 trillion,” he explained. However, he emphasised that this condition does not diminish his side’s commitment to implementing priority programmes based on the community, which directly touch the needs and interests of the people, prioritising the principles of effectiveness, efficiency, and on target.
