Central Kalimantan Governor: History is the Foundation of Development

Palangka Raya - Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran stressed the importance of safeguarding historical values as one of the main foundations for regional development and the nation’s character. “A great nation is one that values the services of its heroes,” the governor said in Palangka Raya on Tuesday. He made these remarks during the ceremony and pilgrimage commemorating the 69th anniversary of Central Kalimantan Province at the Sanaman Lampang Heroes’ Cemetery. “Never forget history. History is our foundation in building the future,” he stated. The event serves as a tribute to the contributions of heroes who sacrificed their energy, thoughts, and lives for the region and the nation. He emphasised that the 69th anniversary commemoration of Central Kalimantan should be a momentum to look towards the future armed with experiences and struggles from the past. According to him, history is not merely a story but an important reference in building Central Kalimantan to be more advanced, strong, and competitive. The governor also urged the youth to continue preserving historical values and the spirit of struggle of their predecessors. Agustiar stated that a generation that understands history will have strong character and be capable of facing various challenges. “History is our foundation. If the foundation is strong, the younger generation will also be strong in facing the developments of the times,” he said. Through the 69th anniversary commemoration of Central Kalimantan, his administration reaffirmed its commitment to continuously advancing regional development with the spirit of unity, respect for history, and strengthening human resources that are characterful and competitive.
