Central Kalimantan Governor: Government Present as Protector of Workers
Palangka Raya (ANTARA) - Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran stated that the provincial government is committed to being present, not only as a regulator but also as a facilitator and protector for all workers and the business world.
“We want to ensure that every policy taken favours improving the quality of life for workers, ensuring workers can live decently, without neglecting the sustainability of the business world. All in harmony in accordance with the Huma Betang Philosophy (togetherness, tolerance),” Agustiar emphasised.
During the 2026 May Day Commemoration at the Great Roundabout in Palangka Raya on Friday, the Governor stressed that with this May Day or Labour Day moment, his side continues to strive to strengthen good communication and synergy by upholding values of justice and prioritising joint solutions.
The aim is to create a conducive business climate, but also to increase regional competitiveness and, of course, the welfare of the people of Central Kalimantan.
The Governor mentioned that in recent times, his side has even communicated directly with several worker representatives so that May Day can be commemorated with impact and benefits for workers and the business world.
“Next, we will also hold dialogues with workers; we want to hear what their desires are,” he emphasised.
The Governor wants the May Day momentum to be utilised effectively according to its substance, one of which is through joint dialogues, so that the business world in Central Kalimantan becomes even better.
Meanwhile, Coordinator of the Central Kalimantan Workers’ Union Friendship Forum, Adhie, conveyed that his side agrees to commemorate May Day 2026 with positive activities and, of course, to keep the region conducive.
“This May Day, we are not holding demonstrations; we want this May Day to be in the form of gratitude, we rejoice, we celebrate,” he explained.
