Central Kalimantan Governor Donates 20 Hectares of Private Land for Sekolah Garuda
Palangka Raya – The Governor of Central Kalimantan (Kalteng), Agustiar Sabran, has donated 20 hectares of private land in Kotawaringin Barat Regency for the construction of Sekolah Garuda.
‘This is a form of our support for President Prabowo Subianto’s programme to strengthen the quality of education and prepare the next generation of the nation,’ Agustiar said in Palangka Raya on Sunday.
The move represents tangible support from both himself and the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government for the Asta Cita Presidential Priority Programme to strengthen education and create a globally competitive Indonesian youth.
The Governor emphasised his commitment to improving human resource quality and national strategic programmes.
‘This is part of the regional effort to align with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision of building excellent human resources as the main driving force of the nation’s progress,’ he said.
Acting Head of the Central Kalimantan Education Office (Disdik) Reza Prabowo said the Kotawaringin Barat site is highly strategic, both in terms of accessibility and regional stability. The presence of Tanjung Puting National Park is one of its advantages. The conservation area, known internationally, is expected to bring a multiplier effect for education, research, and the province’s image on the international stage, he explained.
Earlier, while inspecting the site in Kotawaringin Barat, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technology (Wamendiksaintek) Stella said the proximity to Tanjung Puting National Park is a strong attraction, noting that Sekolah Garuda is designed as an international-curriculum school with a global outlook. ‘Sekolah Garuda is part of the government’s broader strategy to build an education ecosystem that is both fair and competitive,’ she said.
