Palangkaraya (ANTARA) - The Central Kalimantan Provincial Government and the Central Government are continuing to intensify communications to find solutions for the people’s miners in the region so that they can continue their activities safely and legally. “We are moving quickly to follow up on the People’s Mining Areas (WPR) and People’s Mining Permits (IPR),” said Deputy Governor of Central Kalimantan Edy Pratowo in Palangkaraya on Tuesday. He admitted that on Tuesday he had just attended an audience with the Central Kalimantan People’s Miners Alliance (APR-KT) held at the Central Kalimantan DPRD office. He explained that his side had also sent letters to the district and city governments to quickly validate the data of the proposed WPR and met with the Indonesian House of Representatives as well as several ministers handling mining. “Communication has been established well, hopefully the response can be realised soon,” he explained. He conveyed that through meetings with relevant parties, his side requested simplification of the regulations so that miners in the field are not burdened. “Do not let the people’s efforts have the same requirements as the Mining Business Permit (IUP) for large-capital companies, so there is some consideration,” he said. The Deputy Governor emphasised that the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government is always striving as best as possible to create business space that provides guarantees for the community’s economy and contributes to Regional Original Income (PAD). Chairman of the Central Kalimantan DPRD Arton S. Dohong, who led the audience, stated that the purpose of the meeting was to get a picture regarding the legal guarantees for that people’s mining. Meanwhile, the audience also aimed to find solutions for people’s miners in various areas in Central Kalimantan, namely encouraging local governments and miners’ communities to speak together on how to find and obtain the best solutions.
