Central Kalimantan begins distributing food aid to 205,000 recipients
Palangka Raya — The Central Kalimantan provincial government has commenced distribution of food assistance for the February–March 2026 period to 205,140 recipients.
“This assistance is concrete evidence of the President’s attention to Central Kalimantan residents,” said Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran in Palangka Raya on Thursday.
Each recipient receives 20 kilogrammes of rice and four litres of cooking oil. The assistance is intended to help the community meet their food requirements.
Budi Sultika, head of Bulog’s Central Kalimantan regional office, added that distribution is being conducted by providing rice and cooking oil to villages throughout Central Kalimantan.
“We are cooperating with village officials, kelurahan administrators and community social workers. We aim to complete the food assistance distribution by March,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Central Kalimantan’s acting secretary to the regional government, Leonard S. Ampung, stated that the food assistance distribution is also part of the Cheap Food Movement in the Bundaran Besar Palangka Raya area.
The aim is to maintain stable food supply and prices at both producer and consumer levels in preparation for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah and Nyepi Day celebrations.
“The initiative also provides food accessibility to the community, improves affordability and purchasing power for staple foods, and controls regional inflation rates,” he explained.
Available food items include 20 tonnes of premium rice, 400 kilogrammes of shallots and garlic, 1,200 kilogrammes of sugar, 1,200 litres of packaged cooking oil, 600 trays of chicken eggs, 150 trays of omega eggs, bird’s eye chillies, red chillies, green chillies, and fresh fish.
Additionally, the Central Kalimantan provincial government has begun distributing cash assistance from the Huma Betang Sejahtera Card Programme through Bank Kalteng, including recipients from three kelurahs in Palangka Raya.
The three kelurahs—Bukit Tunggal, Menteng and Langkai—have 1,859 beneficiaries. Each recipient receives assistance of 250,000 rupiah.
