In May 2026, approximately 300 participants underwent training as garment and footwear operators, supported by Baznas Central Java, PLN Central Java, and partner companies. The initiative aims to prepare trainees for employment with corporate partners.

Governor of Central Java Ahmad Luthfi inspected the training sessions today, engaging with participants during his visit. He stated: “Each batch trains 300 individuals, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds and persons with disabilities, all ready to work at 11 partner companies.”

The BIPTAK training programme forms part of the provincial government’s strategy to alleviate poverty and reduce open unemployment. According to BPS data, Central Java’s unemployment rate stood at 4.24% in February 2026, with around 481,000 workers absorbed by the industry.

The initiative also supports the province’s growing investment climate, equipping participants for labour-intensive industries. Luthfi added: “They are trained in garment production, shoe manufacturing, sewing, and other skills.”

Head of Central Java Industry and Trade Office Julu Emmylia explained that the 20-day training is free, with meals, accommodation, and transport to partner companies provided. “Upon completion, they are immediately placed in companies as permanent employees earning the regional minimum wage,” she said.

BIPTAK requires around 5,000 trained workers annually, but current infrastructure limits capacity to 3,000 across multiple batches. Collaborative funding from partner companies, Baznas Central Java, and PLN is crucial for sustaining the programme.

Emmylia added: “Our capacity is 3,000 people, but our budget only covers 300, so CSR support helps. We collaborate with PT Mas Arya for nearly 700 trainees, totalling 960 trained at our facility, all directly employed by PT Mas Arya.”

Trainee Bina Una Cahyani from Boyolali praised the programme for its accessible materials and facilities. “I start work at PT Mas Arya after 10 days. I found out about the training via social media and applied as soon as I saw the opportunity,” she said.

Similarly, Batang resident Aldi Prasetya highlighted the direct industry links, securing employment at a Batang-based shoe company after 20 days of training.
