The provincial government of Central Java has officially commenced operations of the Integrated Eid Travel Post 2026, which will function from 13 to 30 March 2026. The post has been established as a service and coordination hub to support the smooth flow of holiday travellers and provide services to the public during the Eid holiday period.

Ahmad Luthfi, Governor of Central Java, stated that the integrated post serves as a command centre for coordinating various security and service stations spread across Central Java.

“The Integrated Post, including security and service stations, is fundamentally designed to provide services to the public,” Luthfi said when opening the Integrated Eid Travel Post 2026 at the Central Java Provincial Transportation Department office on Friday, 13 March 2026.

According to Luthfi, the post plays a vital role in managing various emergency situations on travel routes, ranging from traffic congestion to ill travellers, broken-down vehicles and accidents. Additionally, the post functions as a data processing centre and information source for the public to make quick and accurate decisions.

Luthfi emphasised that all posts must remain on alert for 24 hours to monitor conditions across the region, not only regarding the flow of holiday travellers but also potential disasters such as landslides and flooding in several areas.

He also reminded officers at the posts to maintain their health in order to provide optimal services to the public.

“Before guaranteeing the safety and comfort of travellers, the officers at the posts must themselves be safe and comfortable first,” he said.

Based on an evaluation of 2025 holiday travel operations, several aspects of service require improvement this year. These include adding parking areas and toilet facilities at highway rest stops, improving street lighting, and installing portable signs on alternative routes.

Furthermore, the government is also promoting expanded use of a traffic monitoring application so that the public can obtain real-time information about travel conditions.

The governor also reminded officers on the southern routes to increase vigilance, given that there are still several locations with minimal street lighting that require additional support signage.

In addition to monitoring travel routes, officers are asked to oversee vital facilities such as places of worship, shopping centres, markets and tourist destinations to ensure they remain safe during the Eid holiday period.

Meanwhile, Arief Djatmiko, Head of the Central Java Provincial Transportation Department, stated that the number of holiday travellers expected to head to Central Java in 2026 is predicted to reach approximately 17.7 million people. This figure represents an increase of approximately 30 per cent compared to 2025, when around 13 million people were recorded.

The Integrated Post in Central Java will operate 24 hours a day with a three-shift system for officers. Personnel involved come from various agencies, including provincial government regional apparatus organisations, the Central Java Regional Police, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Jasa Marga toll company and the Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG).

Furthermore, more than 350 members of community safety awareness groups are also involved to assist monitoring at several locations far from the reach of direct officer supervision.

To monitor traffic flow more effectively, the Transportation Department has also installed 10 CCTV monitoring points that can be monitored 24 hours a day and are connected to the CCTV network belonging to local government authorities.

Through this system, the public is expected to monitor traffic conditions in their intended destinations before embarking on holiday travel so that journeys can be planned more safely and comfortably.
