The awards were symbolically received by Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi from the Minister of Education and Culture, Abdul Mu’ti, at the 2026 Education Celebration Evening at the Ministry of Education and Culture headquarters in Jakarta on Monday 25 May.

During the event, Luthfi stated that the awards are expected to motivate the Central Java Government to further improve its education programs and services.

“Education is a mandatory prerequisite for enhancing human resources. We have prepared 13 years of education, from primary to senior high school, plus early childhood education,” Luthfi said in a statement on Tuesday 26 May 2026.

Luthfi stated that the Central Java Provincial Government is focused on improving education quality. One approach is changing the public’s perception that SMP graduates must immediately enter the workforce, encouraging them to continue to senior high school.

The government has introduced the School Partnership Programme, collaborating with private schools to provide scholarships for low-income families. A total of 5,004 slots are available for this initiative.

“They can attend school for free and receive uniforms at no cost,” Luthfi added.

Among the awards received by Central Java are the Commitment to Compulsory 13-Year Education category, and recognition for successfully collaborating with private schools in the 2025/2026 Student Admission Process (SPMB).

The provincial government also secured first place in the Best Practice for Utilising the Indonesian Book Information System (SIBI) for learning, and second place in Best Practice for Supporting the 2026 Academic Ability Test (TKA) implementation.

Additionally, several schools, students, and educators from Central Java individually won awards in various categories. The Young Digital Innovation Talent category was won by Year 5 student Anantacetta Reugra Abiraya from Al Kautsar Elementary School in Temanggung, while Rakhmi Oktarini from Bobotsari State Senior High School 1 took second place in the Dedicated Mentor category for the 2025 Medium Education Affirmation Programme.
