Central Java Weather Forecast Today, 7 June 2026: Warning for 4-Metre Waves and Tidal Flooding
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued an early warning regarding the potential for high waves and coastal flooding (rob) threatening the waters of Central Java this Sunday (7/6). Although land weather is generally expected to be partly cloudy, maritime conditions indicate high risks for shipping activities.
Wahyu Sri Mulyani, a forecaster from the BMKG Tanjung Emas Maritime Station in Semarang, revealed that tidal surges or βrobβ with a maximum height of up to 1 metre are still occurring in the northern waters of Central Java. This phenomenon has triggered flooding in several points along the Pantura (North Coast) route.
Tidal flooding is reported to impact the activities of residents in several areas, with the potential to disrupt land transportation, loading and unloading operations at ports, as well as the inland fisheries and salt pond sectors.
In addition to tidal flooding, BMKG also highlighted significant wave heights. In the southern waters of Central Java, waves are expected to reach between 2.5 to 4 metres. Meanwhile, in the northern waters, wave heights range between 1.25 to 2.5 metres.
Agus Triyono, a forecaster from the BMKG Ahmad Yani Meteorological Station in Semarang, explained that weather on the mainland of Central Java from morning to afternoon will be dominated by partly cloudy skies. However, light, unorganised rain still has the potential to hit mountainous and highland areas from late afternoon to early night.
Several areas at risk of light rain include Banjarnegara, Wonostobo, Karanganyar, and Temanggung. These atmospheric conditions will cause daytime temperatures to feel hotter, while nights will become cooler.
BMKG advises fishermen, barge operators, and passenger vessel operators to remain vigilant and monitor weather developments regularly to avoid the risk of maritime accidents.
