The weather in Central Java on February 26, 2026, is generally expected to be cloudy in the morning, with a chance of light to moderate rain in mountainous areas. In the afternoon, evening, and early night, light to moderate rain is expected throughout the region, and extreme weather, including heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning, is likely along the southern coast of Central Java.
The wave height in the northern waters of Central Java is expected to be between 0.5 and 1.25 meters, accompanied by thunderstorms. In addition, high tides are expected to reach a maximum height of 1 meter between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM, which could cause flooding in several areas along the northern coast of Central Java, such as Pekalongan, Batang, Kendal, Semarang, Demak, Jepara, and Pati.
“Be alert for flooding in the evening and at night in these areas along the northern coast, as a result of the high tides in the northern waters of Central Java,” said Retna Swasti Karini, a forecaster at the BMKG Maritime Station in Tanjung Emas, Semarang, on Thursday (February 26).
The flooding caused by high tides in several areas along the northern coast of Central Java could disrupt residents’ activities, such as transportation, loading and unloading of goods at ports, aquaculture, and salt farming. In addition, high waves of 1.25 to 2.5 meters are expected to continue in the southern waters, posing a risk to shipping activities.
Ferry Oktarisa, a forecaster at the BMKG Meteorological Station Ahmad Yani in Semarang, said that extreme weather is expected to increase in 18 coastal areas of Central Java on Thursday (February 26), so residents are urged to be vigilant against hydrometeorological disasters as a result of the extreme weather.
The areas in Central Java that are likely to experience extreme weather, according to Ferry Oktarisa, are generally coastal areas, namely Cilacap, Banyumas, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, Kebumen, Purworejo, Wonosobo, Mungkid, Boyolali, Klaten, Wonogiri, Karanganyar, Jepara, Slawi, Brebes, Magelang, Bumiayu, and Majenang.
“Meanwhile, other areas in Central Java are expected to experience light to moderate rain, with winds blowing from the west to the north at speeds of 10-25 kilometers per hour, air temperatures ranging from 18 to 32 degrees Celsius, and air humidity ranging from 60 to 95 percent,” said Ferry Oktarisa.
