Central Java Weather Forecast for Today, 16 May 2026: 19 Regions at Risk of Extreme Weather

The Central Java weather forecast for today, 16 May 2026, indicates that extreme weather, including heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning, is likely to occur in 19 regions of Central Java.
The weather in Central Java is generally cloudy in the morning, but in the afternoon, evening, and early night, light to moderate rain is likely to occur in several areas with varying durations. Extreme weather is expected in 19 regions in the mountainous areas, highlands, central part of Central Java, Solo Raya, and parts of the northern coastal areas.
“Be aware of hydrometeorological disasters such as landslides, floods, and tornadoes as a result of this extreme weather,” said Risca Maulida, a forecaster at the BMKG Ahmad Yani Meteorological Station in Semarang, on Saturday (16/5).
The regions in Central Java that are at risk of extreme weather, according to Risca Maulida, are Banyumas, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, Kebumen, Purworejo, Wonosobo, Mungkid, Boyolali, Klaten, Karanganyar, Sragen, Ungaran, Temanggung, Slawi, Magelang, Salatiga, Majenang, and Ambarawa.
Meanwhile, other regions in Central Java are likely to experience light to moderate rain, Risca Maulida said, with winds blowing from east to south at speeds of 3-27 kilometers per hour, air temperatures ranging from 18-35 degrees Celsius, and humidity ranging from 45-95 percent.
Shafira Tsanyfadhila, a forecaster at the BMKG Tanjung Emas Maritime Station in Semarang, said that in addition to high waves in the northern and southern waters, the weather in the Erawan and light rain is also occurring in these waters, so residents who are active in the waters are advised to remain vigilant, especially when wind speeds are very high.
“This unfavorable weather is also causing a decrease in the number of visitors to several coastal tourist locations,” said Shafira Tsanyfadhila. (H-4)
