Central Java Weather Forecast for 23 June 2026: Rain Across Most of the Region

Light to moderate intensity rain is still likely to fall across Central Java today (23/6), according to the weather forecast. Central Java’s weather from morning to afternoon is generally predicted to be partly cloudy and cloudy. However, a number of areas, especially in mountainous and highland regions, will experience rain. Entering the afternoon to early evening, the forecast for light to moderate intensity rain is increasing and spreading across most areas. Arif N, a forecaster at the BMKG Ahmad Yani Meteorological Station in Semarang, said that although some areas in Central Java have entered the dry season, light to moderate rain is still likely to fall in most areas, with rain already falling in a number of areas since morning, especially in mountainous and highland regions. Areas in Central Java likely to be hit by light to moderate rain, according to Arif, include Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, Wonosobo, Temanggung, Kajen and Slawi, while light rain is expected in Banyumas, Mungkid, Boyolali, Karanganyar, Sragen, Grobogan, Kudus, Ungaran, Kendal, Batang, Pemalang, Brebes, Magelang, Pekalongan, Tegal, Bumiayu, Majenang and Ambarawa. “Winds are blowing from the east to the south at speeds of 3-27 kilometres per hour, air temperatures range from 19-34 degrees Celsius and air humidity ranges from 50-95 percent,” Arif stated on Tuesday (23/6). Meanwhile, high waves in the northern and southern waters of Central Java are tending to increase. Tidal flooding (rob) is still ongoing, causing floods in a number of areas on the northern coast such as Pekalongan, Batang, Kendal, Semarang, Demak, Jepara, Pati and Rembang that have yet to recede. “Be alert to high waves in the northern and southern waters with heights reaching 2.5 metres, posing a risk to shipping activities, especially when wind speeds exceed 15 knots,” said Usman Effendi, a forecaster at the BMKG Tanjung Emas Maritime Station in Semarang, on Tuesday (23/6). Usman Effendi said that flooding in a number of areas on the northern coast of Central Java has not been able to recede because tidal flooding is still occurring in the northern waters with a maximum height of 1 metre between 13.00-16.00 WIB. This has the potential to disrupt residents’ activities such as transportation, loading and unloading of goods at ports, inland fisheries, and salt farmers.
