The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has released the weather forecast for Central Java today, 20 June 2026, along with an early warning regarding the potential for tidal flooding and extreme weather. Although most of the region has entered the dry season, a tidal surge up to 1 metre high is still predicted to inundate several points along the northern coast (Pantura).

BMKG forecaster at the Tanjung Emas Maritime Station in Semarang, Wahyu Sri Mulyani, stated that the tidal flood with a maximum height of 1 metre is expected to occur between 10:00 and 15:00 WIB. This condition is causing flooding in several Pantura areas to recede slowly and disrupting the community’s economic activities.

"This tidal flooding impacts transport disruptions, loading and unloading activities at ports, as well as the inland aquaculture and salt farming sectors," said Wahyu Sri Mulyani in her statement on Friday (19/6).

Meanwhile, BMKG forecaster at the Semarang Meteorology Station, Agus Triyono, explained that the weather from morning to midday is generally sunny and cloudy. However, towards the afternoon and early evening, light rain is likely to fall in 14 areas, especially in mountainous and highland regions.

BMKG also reminded of the shipping risks in the southern waters of Central Java, where wave heights range between 1.25 and 2.5 metres. In the northern waters, waves are relatively lower, ranging from 0.5 to 1.25 metres. Fishermen and vessel operators are urged to be cautious if wind speeds exceed 15 knots. The public is advised to continuously monitor weather updates through official BMKG channels to anticipate the impact of tidal flooding, which could hinder mobility on the main Pantura route.
