Central Java Weather Forecast for 17 July 2026: Light Rain, Strong Winds, and Tidal Flooding

Light rain is forecast for five areas in Central Java on Friday, 17 July 2026, including Purwokerto, Purbalingga, Kajen, Slawi, and Bumiayu, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). Most other regions in Central Java are expected to be sunny to cloudy, prompting a warning for potential forest and land fires due to dry conditions.

Rany Puspita, a forecaster at BMKG’s Ahmad Yani Semarang station, urged residents to remain vigilant against wind hazards, noting that winds are generally blowing from the east to the south at speeds of 5 to 35 kilometres per hour. Temperatures are expected to range from 16 to 33 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels between 45 and 95 percent.

Meanwhile, tidal flooding (rob) continues to affect several areas along the northern coast of Central Java, including Pati, Demak, Semarang, and Pekalongan, with no signs of receding. Herbuana Yoga W, a forecaster at BMKG’s Tanjung Emas Maritime Station in Semarang, stated that the tidal flooding, occurring between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., is inundating the Pantura route connecting Semarang and Demak, disrupting transportation, port loading and unloading activities, inland fisheries, and salt farming. Although high waves in Central Java’s northern waters have decreased to between 0.5 and 1.25 metres, waves in the southern waters remain at 1.25 to 2.5 metres.
