Central Java Weather Forecast 4 June 2026: Alert for Extreme Weather in 3 Regions
The weather forecast for Central Java today, 4 June 2026, advises the public to be wary of extreme weather potentially occurring in three regions. Furthermore, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has warned of high waves reaching 4 metres in southern waters and a 1-metre tidal surge in northern waters, which may cause flooding in several areas along the northern coast (Pantura).
In the morning, weather in Central Java is generally partly cloudy. However, from the afternoon through to the early night, light to moderate rain is likely to occur unevenly across mountainous and highland areas. Extreme weather, characterised by heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning, is a potential threat in three specific regions of Central Java.
High waves of 2.5 to 4 metres continue in the southern waters of Central Java, posing a risk to maritime activities such as fishing boats, barges, and the transport of goods and passengers, particularly when wind speeds exceed 15 knots. Meanwhile, in northern waters, tidal surges with a maximum height of 1 metre are expected to cause flooding in several Pantura districts.
“Be alert for tidal flooding (rob) in several Pantura areas such as Pekalongan, Batang, Kendal, Semarang, Demak, Jepara, and Pati,” said Sediyanto, a forecaster from the BMKG Tanjung Emas Maritime Station in Semarang on Thursday (4/6).
According to Sediyanto, the tidal flooding, occurring between 10:00 and 15:00 WIB, disrupts the activities of residents in coastal Pantura areas, including transportation, port loading and unloading, inland aquaculture, and salt farming; therefore, residents in these areas are urged to remain vigilant.
Risca Maulida, a forecaster from the BMKG Ahmad Yani Meteorological Station in Semarang, noted that despite entering the dry season, light to moderate rain is still likely across Central Java. Extreme weather remains a potential threat in three regions: Banyumas, Wonosobo, and Temanggung.
“Be wary of hydrometeorological disasters such as landslides, floods, and tornadoes, especially for residents living on hillsides and near river basins,” said Risca Maulida.
Other areas in Central Java likely to experience light to moderate rain include Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, Mungkid, Ungaran, Kendal, Batang, Kajen, Pemalang, Slawi, Brebes, Magelang, Semarang, and Ambarawa, while other regions will remain cloudy with only light rain. Winds are blowing from the east to the south at speeds of 3–27 kilometres per hour, with temperatures ranging from 18–34 degrees Celsius and humidity between 50–95 per cent.
