Central Java TPID Connects 111 Producers and 99 Offtakers to Strengthen Food Supply
The Central Java Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) brought together 111 producers and 99 offtakers of essential goods at the Intra-Provincial Inter-Regional Cooperation Business Meeting at the Gradhika Bhakti Praja Building in Semarang on Wednesday (10/6). Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi stated that the meeting was a strategic step to maintain food availability and affordability while controlling regional inflation. “The hope is that cooperation between regents/mayors, producers, and offtakers will occur so that the availability and affordability of essential goods for the community are controlled. The output is that inflation in Central Java can be maintained,” Luthfi said. According to him, as one of the national food barns, Central Java must be able to meet the needs of its own people before supplying other regions. Therefore, inter-regional food distribution needs to be strengthened through cooperation and agglomeration patterns. Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for Central Java Province, M. Nur Nugroho, explained that the activity is part of the Inflation Control and Prosperous Food Movement to increase food distribution efficiency. “What we are doing today is part of distribution efficiency. We bring together staple food producers with offtakers so that the food supply in Central Java becomes stronger,” he said. In the business meeting, the commodities most in demand by offtakers were rice (30 interested parties), chilli (25), cooking oil (24), and shallots (13). Meanwhile, from the producer side, the most offered commodities were chilli (33 producers), rice (28), maize (25), and shallots (20). Besides connecting food business actors, the activity also resulted in several cooperation agreements, including between BUMP PT Kalingga Makmur Sejahtera of Jepara Regency and the Karya Manunggal Farmers Group Association of Rembang Regency for rice commodities. An inter-regional cooperation in the Banyumas Raya area was also signed for chillies, rice, maize, shallots, and cooking oil commodities. Through this synergy between producers and offtakers, the Central Java TPID hopes that food distribution will become smoother, prices will remain stable, and regional inflation can continue to be controlled.
