Central Java Sends Five More Trucks of Aid for NTT Earthquake Victims
Central Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Acting Head Bergas Catursasi Penanggungan said the fundraising drive was carried out again on the instructions of Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi. According to Bergas, the needs of the NTT community following the earthquake remain substantial. For this reason, the Central Java provincial government is striving to help as much as possible.
“The amount of aid needed by the NTT community is still large. As directed by the Governor, we should help as much as possible,” said Bergas in a written statement on Monday (31/8/2026).
This second phase of donations was collected from a number of district and city governments that entrusted their aid through the Central Java provincial government. Various elements of society also participated, ranging from the Central Java Chinese community, Telogorejo Cooperative, to Indonesia Power. Some residents even voluntarily donated without disclosing their personal identities.
The collected aid is dominated by daily necessities for the displaced. Nutritional needs are prioritised through the delivery of ready-to-eat meals, corned beef, sardines, eggs, biscuits, and special infant nutrition. For clothing and hygiene needs, the team prepared nappies, new clothes, sarongs, underwear, soap, and shampoo.
Bergas explained that the selection of logistics was adjusted to the actual conditions on the ground. Based on coordination with the NTT provincial government, the need for side dishes is one of the most urgent priorities. The logistics convoy is scheduled to depart for Jakarta on Tuesday (1/9/2026).
Five trucks have been prepared to transport the aid to the National Logistics Support Post (Posduklognas) at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta. Distribution to NTT will then use the national logistics distribution system. This mechanism was chosen so that aid movement arrives more quickly and is well coordinated.
The Central Java provincial government has fully handed over authority for the final distribution destination to the national post in NTT. Aid will be directed immediately to severely affected areas on Flores Island such as Manggarai, Nagekeo, and East Manggarai.
“At the national post location there, distribution trucks are already available and ready to be sent to all areas in the Flores Islands in NTT,” Bergas explained.
Central Java BPBD is still monitoring the post-disaster situation to determine the urgency of the next phase of fundraising. The agency hopes that this logistics distribution will be able to shorten the recovery period for the victims.
“Hopefully this can be completed. Our hope is that the NTT community can recover and regain their spirit,” he said.
Previously, Governor Ahmad Luthfi affirmed Central Java’s commitment would not stop at the first phase of delivery. He immediately instructed his staff to finalise the follow-up aid scheme together with other regional leaders.
“The Regional Secretary and Deputy Governor are coordinating with other regents and mayors to plan the second phase,” said Luthfi.
This concern is also accompanied by spiritual support from the wider community in Central Java. At the Jateng Bersholawat event on Sunday (23/8/2026), Ahmad Luthfi invited thousands of worshippers to pray for the safety of the victims.
“May our brothers and sisters be strengthened and recover quickly from the disaster,” Luthfi concluded.
