Central Java Ready to Welcome National MTQ Delegations, Preparations Reach 90%

Preparations for the 31st National Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) in 2026 in Central Java have reached 90 percent. Various organisational requirements, including venues, accommodation, transport, security and health services, continue to be refined.

Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen said that arrangements for the opening venue at Lapangan Pancasila, Simpanglima, Semarang, have also commenced. Preparations for the arrival of delegations from various provinces as well as accommodation for VIP and VVIP guests are also underway.

“We are holding preparatory meetings ahead of MTQ 2026. We must be good hosts and treat our guests with respect,” said Taj Yasin during a coordination meeting for the 2026 National MTQ preparations at the Central Java Governor’s Office complex in Semarang on Monday (24/8/2026).

The 31st National MTQ will take place from 12 to 19 September 2026 and is expected to be attended by thousands of participants and visitors. The Central Java provincial government, together with relevant parties, continues to refine preparations to ensure that the entire series of events runs smoothly and that services for delegations and visitors are optimal.

Taj Yasin emphasised that the National MTQ is not solely focused on competition, but is also expected to have a positive impact on the community and the regional economy.

One of the initiatives being prepared is the development of Muslim-friendly tourism in Semarang. Delegations are expected to take part in city tours to become acquainted with a number of tourist destinations in Central Java.

“The hope is that the public can visit these places, the delegations can be there, and there can be city tours to promote our tourism,” he said.

In addition to tourism, the Central Java provincial government is also encouraging the involvement of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) so that the National MTQ provides a direct economic impact for the community.
