The Provincial Government of Central Java has responded positively to the central government’s plan to provide an incentive of Rp1 million per month for religious teachers beginning in 2027. The Central Java administration stated it is ready to support the programme through the synchronisation of recipient data to ensure the assistance is accurately targeted.

Central Java Vice Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen said religious teachers play an important role in building the education and character of society. Therefore, attention to the welfare of religious education personnel needs to be continuously strengthened.

According to Taj Yasin, known as Gus Yasin, the Central Java provincial government has so far provided incentives to around 230,000 religious teachers. However, tens of thousands of Madrasah Diniyah and Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an (TPQ) teachers have yet to receive assistance.

With the central government programme, the Central Java administration is ready to cooperate with the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs for Central Java to synchronise recipient data. “We are ready to present the data so that the welfare of these religious teachers can be accurately realised,” Gus Yasin said after attending a specific working visit of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Central Java Province on Wednesday (24/6).

Gus Yasin assessed that accurate data collection is an important part of ensuring the religious teacher incentive programme can run effectively. Data synchronisation is needed to ensure that aid recipients are truly on target, especially for religious education personnel who have so far not been reached by assistance.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII of the DPR, Abdul Wachid, conveyed that the DPR approved the proposed additional budget for the Ministry of Religious Affairs within the indicative ceiling for 2027. One of the allocations is intended for the honorarium of honorary madrasah teachers amounting to Rp1 million per month.

In addition to discussing teacher incentives, Commission VIII of the DPR is also pushing for the establishment of a Directorate General of Pesantren. Commission VIII emphasised the importance of accurate data collection so that various assistance programmes in the religious education sector can run effectively and be accurately targeted.

The incentive programme is expected to strengthen the welfare of religious teachers while supporting the improvement of the quality of religious education in the regions. The Central Java provincial government stated it is ready to take a role in providing and adjusting recipient data according to the needs of the central government programme.
