The award was received by the Vice Governor of Central Java, Taj Yasin Maimoen (Gus Yasin), representing Governor Ahmad Luthfi, at the Office of the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) in Jakarta on Wednesday (30/09).

Similar achievements were recorded by several regencies and cities within Central Java. Kendal Regency achieved third place in the regency category, while Pekalongan City secured third place in the city category.

Gus Yasin stated that the award serves as evidence of the vital importance of synchronising regional development planning with that of the central government. However, he emphasised that such planning must ultimately result in tangible benefits for the community.

“This is a form of collaboration and synchronisation between regional development planning and central development planning,” said Gus Yasin in a written statement on Wednesday (30/09/2026).

One of the flagship programmes included in Central Java’s 2026 PPD planning is ‘Speling’ (Dokter Spesialis Keliling/Mobile Specialist Doctor). This programme is designed to expand public access to healthcare services, particularly specialist medical care.

Gus Yasin noted that ‘Speling’ also serves to strengthen central government initiatives.

“This is aligned with the central government’s free health check-up programme. We are strengthening it by adding specialists,” he added.

The Head of the Central Java Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), Yusmanto, explained that the PPD assessment does not focus solely on planning documents. The evaluation covers the entire development cycle, from document preparation and development achievements to programme implementation and regional innovation.

“This award recognises the entire process, starting from planning and document preparation to development achievements, execution, and regional innovation,” said Yusmanto.

According to Yusmanto, the PPD assessment process is quite extensive. The stages began in February with document uploads and continued through the assessment process until August.

This year, the assessment process expanded to three stages. During the final two stages, Governor Ahmad Luthfi personally led the Central Java Provincial Government team to address inquiries from the assessment panel.

Yusmanto remarked that this achievement demonstrates that development must go beyond being well-planned on paper; planning must be translated into development that provides real benefits.

“The priority is the community,” he emphasised.

Yusmanto noted that Central Java’s inclusive development is directed towards ensuring economic growth impacts job creation. Furthermore, the expansion of employment is expected to contribute to reducing poverty and narrowing the gap between regions and populations.

This achievement in the 2026 PPD adds to Central Java’s track record of receiving regional development awards. In the 2026 PPD, 38 provinces, 334 regencies, and 86 cities participated.

The Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas), Rachmat Pambudy, stated that the PPD, which has been held since 2011, is more than just an awards ceremony. He noted that the recognition should serve as a catalyst for local governments to continuously improve the quality of development.

“This simple award is not a prize, but a motivator to work even harder,” concluded Rachmat.
