Central Java Provincial Government Ensures More Grand Closing Ceremony for 31st National MTQ
Semarang (ANTARA) - The Central Java Provincial Government has ensured that the closing ceremony for the 31st National Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) 2026 in Central Java will be more festive than ever.
“We are preparing the event so that the public can experience more joy when attending this MTQ closing,” said the Vice Governor of Central Java, Taj Yasin Maimoen, in Semarang on Thursday.
He stated that the Central Java Provincial Government, alongside the organising committee, is currently finalising preparations for the ceremonial closing of the 31st National MTQ 2026.
According to him, the closing ceremony is planned to take place at Simpang Lima Square, Semarang City, on Saturday (19/9) night, featuring several surprises and engaging entertainment for the public.
He added that the concept for the closing ceremony is designed to match the grandeur of the opening ceremony, ranging from opening dances and collaborative dance performances to appearances by supporting musical groups.
In addition to focusing on the closing ceremony, the committee is also facilitating delegations from various regions to visit iconic destinations in Semarang City, such as the Great Mosque of Central Java (MAJT), Kota Lama, and the Sam Poo Kong Temple.
Travel routes have been scheduled in rotation to prevent overcrowding and to ensure the comfort of the guests.
The 31st National MTQ will take place from 11–20 September 2026, with competitions held across 12 arenas scattered throughout Semarang City.
A total of 2,242 participants have been registered for the 31st National MTQ, consisting of 1,751 core participants and 491 reserve participants.
They will compete across eight branches and 24 competition groups, spanning 48 categories, with the committee having prepared 5,257 competition questions.
