During this commemoration, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi served as the inspecting officer. Luthfi also read out the message from Indonesia’s Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu’ti.

The message conveyed by Mu’ti was to reflect once again on the essence of education as a process of ennobling humanity.

According to Luthfi, this year’s Hardiknas serves as a momentum to educate children so that they have a good future. Luthfi stated that the education process is not only within the classroom but also in various places, including within the family.

With good education, Luthfi hopes that children can easily interact, adapt, and have a good future for the nation and country.

For this 2026 Hardiknas commemoration, the Central Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jateng) deliberately chose SMKN 1 Kedawung in Sragen Regency.

This is because the school has flagship study programmes, including food crop cultivation (horticulture), plantation crop cultivation (agricultural agribusiness), livestock agribusiness or animal husbandry, fisheries agribusiness, agricultural product processing agribusiness, integrated farming enterprises, and culinary skills or catering expertise.

This aligns with the Central Java 2026 development roadmap, namely food self-sufficiency for national food security.

“SMKN 1 Kedawung has a garden as a role model for food security. There are longan, oranges, durian, guava, and so on, some of which are already used for consumption in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme,” said Luthfi, in a written statement on Saturday (2/5/2026).

On that occasion, Luthfi also handed over several awards and scholarships. Among them were Satyalencana Karya Satya awards or presidential honours to civil servant teachers who have served for 10, 20, and 30 years or more.

Additionally, national achievement awards in education to two students who won gold medals at the 2025 Indonesian Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Festival (FIKSI).

First, student Muhammad Azka Abdurrahman from SMA Science Plus Baitul Qur’an Boarding School in Sragen Regency, who won a gold medal in the Digital Technology competition category.

Second, student Naila Aini Bahri from SMA Unggulan Rushd in Sragen Regency, who won a gold medal in the Social Entrepreneurship competition category.

The principal of SMKN 1 Kedawung, Fahmi Khoiruman, stated that his school focuses on agricultural cultivation expertise programmes. The presence of a vocational school focused on agricultural education can support national food security.

“We are comprehensive. So, to meet the needs of many people, that is food,” said Fahmi.

“We prepare it here. With the MBG programme, we also supply fruits, eggs, and fish,” he added.
